包皮過長問題

一般男性在孩童時期，包皮都會遮蓋了整個陰莖頭及尿道口，但隨著發育，陰莖體積增大及長度增長，包皮亦會退縮，使陰莖頭及尿道口暴露在包皮之外。

假如到了成年，陰莖完全勃起時仍未能完全露出龜頭，這便是包皮過長。當包皮長期包著龜頭和尿道口，清洗出現困難便會令細菌較易生長繁殖而發生炎症，又或在性交時磨損引致疼痛或損傷。而割包皮(或「包皮環切手術」)的主要目的就是將龜頭四周過緊的外皮，用外科手術切去，使龜頭可以外露。
