2. 工藝教導員(木工)的薪級表為一般紀律人員(員佐級)薪級表第3 點(每月
14,355 元)至一般紀律人員(員佐級)薪級表第20 點註1 (每月24,240 元)。獲取
錄人員的薪酬及增薪日期將依照《公務員事務規例》第130 及133 條的規定
(a) 完成有關木工的學徒或院校訓練註2， 或能出示證明， 顯示在木工方
(b) 中、英文語文能力相當於中三程度； 及能操流利粵語及簡單英語；
(c) 須接受及通過技能測驗註4 。
註1 頂薪點的資料只供參考， 該項資料日後或會作出更改。

VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. CSD 2010/15
Applications are invited from serving civil servants for appointment as Instructor (Carpentry)
in the Correctional Services Department.
2. The pay scale of Instructor (Carpentry) is from General Disciplined Services (Rank and File)
Pay Scale Point 3 ($14,355) to General Disciplined Services (Rank and File) Pay Scale Point 20 Note 1
($24,240) per month. The pay and incremental date for a successful candidate will be determined in
accordance with the provisions of Civil Service Regulations 130 and 133 and as set out in the letter of
3. Candidates should have –
(a) completed an apprenticeship or institutional training Note 2 in carpentry work; or be able
to furnish evidence that they have had at least 5 years’ working experience in carpentry
work Note 3 ;
(b) attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English languages equivalent to Form 3
standard; and be able to speak fluent Cantonese and simple English; and
(c) undergo and passed a trade test Note 4 .
Permanent Residency Requirement
4. Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at
the time of appointment unless they were first appointed on civil service terms of appointment before
1 July 1997 and have continued in service without a break.

Note 2 Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and
Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required
entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the address as specified in
para. 8 below, with specification of their Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card numbers and online application numbers, if
applicable. Copies of local qualification documents are not required at this stage of application.
Note 3 Candidates should specify clearly the requisite working experience in the application forms.
Note 4 Where a large number of candidates meet the specified entry requirements, the recruiting department may devise shortlisting
criteria to select the better qualified candidates for further processing. In these circumstances, only shortlisted candidates will be
invited to attend the trade test. Only those candidates who have passed the trade test will be considered for appointment.
5. An Instructor (Carpentry) is mainly deployed on –
(a) instructing and training prisoners / inmates engaging in work activities of carpentry
trade for producing hardwood furniture, panel and office furniture and other wooden
(b) performing duties including material estimation, production planning and scheduling,
quality and work process control, machine operation and their general maintenance;
(c) enforcing the code of practice on safety management and adopting good occupational
safety and health practices; and
(d) performing any other duties as directed.
(Note : Subject to the provisions of the Prisons Ordinance and is required to wear uniform and may be required
to work shifts and live in departmental quarters.)
Terms of Appointment
6. Successful candidates will be offered appointment either on trial or on probationary terms as

prevailing at the time the offer of appointment is made.)
Basic Law Knowledge Assessment
7. For the purpose of heightening public awareness of the Basic Law (BL) and promoting a
culture of learning of BL in the community, assessment of BL knowledge will be included in the
recruitment for all civil service jobs. Candidates who are invited to attend the recruitment interview will
be tested orally on their BL knowledge during recruitment interview. The results of BL assessment will be taken into account only if two candidates are considered equal in all other aspects.
